I grew up with four brothers. We didn't have a lot of money but were lucky enough to have plenty of green space nearby where we spent a good bit of our free time playing football.
At school I played hockey and netball. It was a sign of the times back then that it never entered my head that girls could play football competitively. A few years ago one of my brothers took up walking football and he suggested to me that I might enjoy it. I was not overly convinced but was persuaded to give it a go. I now love the walking football sessions and positively look forward to them. It is a very inclusive sport and people of all different abilities can play happily together. For me the sessions are fun way to exercise and a chance to switch off, for a wee while, from the hustle and bustle of life.
