I grew up in a street filled with boys who played street football so I joined in, it was great fun. No school football for girls back then so it was the only way I could play football.
I saw my first game at Muirton park when I was around 10 yrs old and was hooked on following Saints, come rain or shine. My granddad was friends of the groundsman at Muirton park so many a summer I would go up there and get to help with little jobs around the ground, also one day Willie Ormond called me over and asked me to go to the post office for stamps, I think I got to keep the change, haha, I was at the 1969 cup final and although had to wait until 2014 to see them lift the cup it was worth the wait..so football has been a big part of my life.
Fast forward to Nov 2018, I saw on Facebook a ladies team of walking football were looking for people to play and although I am now in my 60s I thought why not go along and try it and I am glad I did, it is good fun, it keeps me active and I have made new friends . The other good thing is you do not have to be an expert at playing football, so any ladies out there that think I would like to try it but think they are maybe not good enough think again as it does not matter everyone is welcome.
